Coastguard's Tuck Stick

This stick is likely to make an impression on anyone who un-sheaths it, especially if you're a youngster. I was no exception and remember inspecting the long steal blade very closely, trying to find traces of an unfortunate smuggler's blood! Even then I did not think that such a long "sword" would be easy to use as a weapon in an emegency.

Thanks to information from Swansea Heritage Net I now understand a slightly less exciting use for the 'sword' - a Tuck Stick - Check it out

I have pinched Swansea's excellent photograph for the time being until I can arrange to get a picture of the actual Burnham stick from Canada where it now resides with decendants of William Veitch.
