76 years of crash free motoring

Email to Paul and Cathie August 2018

Hi Paul and Cathie,

I really don't think I will be flying off to Limoges, or anywhere else for that matter.

I cannot complain, I have flown from the age of 10 when Uncle Percy took me on my first flight in 1936, to the age 92 when Tim and I visited you last year.

I have also packed up driving, and given the car to Philip & Jacky, who have the unenviable task of carting me about.

There again, no complaints, 76 years of crash free motoring, and only 3 breakdowns which I could not fix, and they all happened at convenient places, so I never had to call out the AA.

Just for the record, I have never been fined for any road traffic infringement. (Though I must confess I have driven the wrong way down a one way street, I have exceeded the speed limit, I have passed through a red traffic light, I have driven down bus lanes, I have driven without any lights at night and probably a whole host of other deviations from the highway code). My Guardian Angel can now take a well earned breather.

I guess most folk would think that Mum and I have lived a fairly normal mundane existence, but in retrospect, it has been quite remarkable in many ways. I should try to write a book, if it's not too late.

Love from Dad. XX
