This picture was described to me by Effie Brown (1900-1996) when aged 89. She had an excellent memory of her early life in Burnham and enjoyed visits back to point out places she remembered from her childhood. Two girls on the picture are noted as "FIVE MILES FROM MARCHES" and sadly I cannot remember the meaning of this. I guess that it means that the two shown were two of five girls from a Miles family. I would be delighted to hear from anyone else who has any additional information on the picture below. -
